A few good questions.

Everything you need to get from one window to the next.

How is this different from macOS ⌘Tab?

The macOS switcher moves between apps. Napoleon lets you choose an individual window and see its preview. You can also group windows by app, then cycle through the selected app’s stack.

Which Macs are supported?

Napoleon requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later. The download supports both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. The interface is available in English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Japanese.

How do I install it?

Open the DMG and drag Napoleon into Applications. Launch it, then enable Accessibility in System Settings → Privacy & Security. Enable Screen Recording there if you want window previews. Official releases from 0.3.1 use Developer ID signing and Apple notarization.

Why does it need these permissions?

Accessibility is required to handle your shortcut and focus the window you choose. Screen Recording is optional and supplies window thumbnails. Without it, switching still works and the cards show app icons.

What are the keyboard shortcuts?

By default, ⌘Tab cycles all windows and ⌘` cycles windows of the current app. Hold ⌘, use Tab or the arrow keys to choose, then release ⌘ to switch. ⇧Tab moves backward and Esc cancels. Both shortcuts can be changed in Settings.

Can I search for a window?

Start typing while the switcher is open to filter by app name or window title. Pinyin search is enabled by default: gouwu can match 购物清单. The website demo uses sample windows; it cannot access your desktop or take over macOS shortcuts.

Do my windows or previews leave my Mac?

Window switching and previews run locally. Update checks connect to GitHub. Diagnostic logs stay on your Mac; optional diagnostic exports can include window titles or cached thumbnails when you select those modes. Napoleon does not upload them automatically. You decide whether to share an exported package.

Does it work across Spaces and full-screen apps?

Napoleon includes full-screen windows and lets you reach desktop windows from a full-screen Space. Some apps and windows on other Spaces expose limited information to macOS Accessibility, so exact window targeting can vary.

Is Napoleon free?

Yes. Napoleon is free and open source under AGPL-3.0. You can read the source, report an issue, or contribute on GitHub.
